TGO promotes “Carbon Credit Mechanism” to encourage all sectors involved in Forest Restoration

Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, promotes Afforestation and Reforestation in Forest degradation areas though “carbon credit mechanism” and encourages all sectors to participate in Forest restoration, biodiversity, and ecosystems.

The Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program (T-VER) developed by TGO, is a voluntary mechanism that incentivizes project participants to reduce greenhouse gas emission in Thailand.

The forestry project is one of the seven project types that can be registered as a Standard T-VER project & Premium T-VER Project. the project developer shall use T-VER Methodology & Tool as well as default values for parameters pre-fixed by TGO for calculate amount of GHG emission reduction from the T-VER project.

Forest Carbon Credits from both of Standard T-VER & Premium T-VER can be claimed but limited to those from additional activities, such as planting new trees on unforested land & degraded area, restoring forests or increasing carbon sequestration activities, and must be verified and monitored by the third parties (Validation and Verification Body: VVB).

Currently, there are 48 forestry projects registered as T-VER with 361,871 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year that are expected to be reduced or stored.
