NECTEC develops 'Acamp' for automatic calculation of the carbon footprint

On April 8, 2025, the National Center for Electronics and Computer Technology (NECTEC) launched the Automated Carbon Accounting Management Platform (Acamp) for automatic calculation of the carbon footprint for organization (CFO) and real-time follow-up.

Acamp is a system that can automatically adjust the calculation formula & EF value in accordance with the data set by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO).  Moreover, storage, analysis, and calculation of carbon footprint are in accordance with the ISO 14064-1. The entrepreneurs can use data to submit for trade with foreign countries.

The data input of the Acamp is divided into three main parts:

1.      Electricity consumption data will be collected by an edge computer, namely ZCARBON, and calculate the carbon footprint generated by electricity consumption in real time. The carbon footprint data is then uploaded to the cloud to be used for calculating the CFO.

2.      Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data such as information on the type and quantity of raw materials, fuel & Resource utilization in production will be linked to the cloud to be used for calculating the CFO.

3.      Other Required data that is required to calculate the CFO will be filled directly into Acamp application webpage by Entrepreneurs

Once all the necessary data is inputted, Acamp automatically calculates the organization's CFO data and displays the result in a dashboard format. [1]

Acamp was first introduced  at the National Center for Electronics and Computer Technology Annual Conference & Exhibitions 2024, held on September 10, 2024, as one of a project under development [2][3]. Acamp will be available through the Industrial IoT and Data Analytics Platform (IDA Platform), a pilot project aimed to connecting internal factory data via sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT) to drive Thailand towards Industry 4.0 [4].

Note ISO 14064 is an international standard for GHG Emissions Inventories and Verification. ISO 14064 consists of three parts, each with a different technical focus. the ISO 14064 Part 1 (ISO 14064-1 ) is titled “Specification with guidance at the organization level for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals.” This part provides requirements for the design, development, management, reporting and verification of an organization's GHG inventory.
