Promotion of Carbon Footprint for local administrative organizations in Thailand

On August 16, 2023, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO along with the consultant from Chiang Mai University organized an event to announce the achievements of the implementation of the project on "Promotion of Carbon Footprint for local administrative organizations" or “Local CFO project”. Mr. Suthipong Julcharoen, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior presented the plaques of honor to the organizations participated the project in fiscal year 2023.


TGO started implementing the Local CFO project in 2011-present. There are a total of 261 Local Administrative Organizations (LAOs) participating in the project. In the fiscal year 2023, other 22 LAOs and 3 District Offices under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration participating in, those are [i]:


1) District Offices under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, i.e., Dindaeng District Office, Bang Khun Thian District Office and Prawet District Office


2) 13 Town Municipalities and 9 Subdistrict Municipalities i.e.,

  • Kalasin Province: Kuchinarai Town Municipality

  • Chon Buri Province: Khlong Tamru Subdistrict Municipality, Na Chom Thian Subdistrict Municipality and Na Pa Subdistrict Municipality

  • Chiang Mai Province: Khua Mung Subdistrict Municipality and Buak Khang Subdistrict Municipality

  • Tak Province: Tak Town Municipality

  • Nakhon Nayok Province: Tha Chang Subdistrict Municipality

  • Nakhon Ratchasima Province: Mueang Pak Town Municipality and Sung Noen Subdistrict Municipality

  • Nakhon Si Thammarat Province: Pak Phun Town Municipality

  • Nakhon Sawan Province: Takhli Town Municipality

  • Nonthaburi Province: Bang Khu Rat Town Municipality

  • Buriram Province: Chum Het Town Municipality

  • Pathum Thani Province: Bueng Yitho Town Municipality and Sanan Rak Town Municipality

  • Phitsanulok Province: Aranyik Town Municipality and Tha Thong Subdistrict Municipality

  • Phetchabun Province: Lom Sak Town Municipality

  • Songkhla Province: Sadao Town Municipality

  • Ubon Ratchathani Province: Det Udom Town Municipality and Khueang Nai Subdistrict Municipality [iii]


The Local CFO project aims to provide knowledge and understanding on the preparation Carbon Footprint for LAOs and to develop greenhouse gas emission reduction guidelines that are appropriate to their organizations’ context. This could strengthen the greenhouse gas management system at the local level. This also supports the achievement of carbon neutrality and net zero greenhouse gas emissions for Thailand as well.[i]
