On January 25th, 2023, Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment Chiang Mai and the City of Kitakyushu, Japan, held a workshop for sharing knowledge and experience on countermeasures against forest fire in Chiang Mai Province.
In 2019, the city of Kitakyushu discussed with Chiang Mai Province about the cooperation to increase the efficiency of countermeasures against forest fire. Unfortunately, the activities under the project have been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the city of Kitakyushu and PONRE have started to continue the project in 2022 and held a workshop today.
In the workshop, we focus on finding a better solution for forest fire & PM2.5 management, including shared knowledge & experience on countermeasures against forest fire between both agencies as well as the results of eco-friendly foam fire extinguisher agent testing at Chiang Mai Forest Fire Control at Mae On and Promotion Center and the Wildfire Control Unit at Doi Inthanon.
