MNRE prepare for a high level meeting with MOEJ to accelerate environmental cooperation between Thailand and Japan


On June 14, 2024, The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) held a meeting among representatives from agencies under the MNRE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a part of preparation for the 4th high level meeting with the Government of Japan to be held on July 9, 2024, in which Thai government plans to discuss various issues in the field of Environment. Including climate change, Air & Water Quality Management and Ocean Plastic Waste Management [1].


MNRE and MOEJ plan to renew “Memorandum of Cooperation on Environmental Cooperation (MOC)” as a 2nd version of such covering seven areas i.e., (1) waste management, (2) pollution control and prevention, (3) park and protected area management, (4) environmental technology, (5) marine and coastal management, (6) climate change mitigation and adaptation, and (7) lake area management [2], signed between in 2018, and with which,. Both organizations will enhance cooperation in the field of environment in Thailand.
