During his inspection of the waste management project—which includes the new transfer station and outsourced landfill operations, Deputy Governor Chakkapan instructed the contractor to strictly implement a fully enclosed facility. Key measures include automatic entry and exit doors, air curtains to contain odors, and an intelligent odor monitoring system (E-NOSE) to oversee impacts on surrounding residents.
Additional directives included strict site hygiene, prohibiting outdoor waste stockpiles, and requiring regular cleaning of entrances and exits. Waste transport trucks must be covered with tarpaulins immediately after loading to prevent spillage and odor during transit to Kanchanaburi and private landfill sites. BMA will conduct a follow-up inspection on April 21, 2026, to ensure full compliance with the enclosure requirement.
The Saimai Waste Disposal Center serves as a strategic hub for Bangkok’s waste management, capable of processing at least 1,000 tons of waste per day through compression and sorting, converting waste into energy and organic fertilizer. This reduces reliance on landfills while maximizing resource utilization under modern environmental standards. The Environment Department will continue weekly monitoring of contractor operations to ensure sustainable odor control and minimal impact on local communities.
