12 Companies sign PPA to develop a total of 96 MW industrial waste to energy projects

On April 5, 2023, the Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced a list of project developers selected as a producer under the Power Purchase from Renewable Energy Sources under a FiT Scheme between 2022-2030 for Industrial Waste to Energy (2022) (hereinafter referred to as “the project”), there are 13 companies who have been selected with a total sale amount of 100 megawatts. [1]


Recently, 12 out of 13 project developers revealed that on October 16, 2023, they signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), with details as follows:


Power Watt 1 Co., Ltd. and Power Watt 2 Co., Ltd. which are joint ventures between Westech Exponential Co., Ltd. (a member of Millcon Steel Public Company Limited or MILL) and Suntech Innovation Power Co., Ltd. (subsidiary of Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited or GULF), are the developers of 2 projects, with a sale amount of 8 megawatts each, for a total of 16 megawatts. The total project value is approximately 3,500-3600 million baht, Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) is set to be in 2026. Each project can combust approximately 200-250 tons of waste per day. [2]


Subsidiary companies of Get Green Power Co., Ltd. or GGP, which is an indirect subsidiary of Earth Tech Environment Public Company Limited or ETC, are the developers of 10 projects, with a sale amount of 8 megawatts each, for a total of 80 megawatts. SCOD is set to be in 2026 for each project.


The subsidiary companies mentioned above are 1. Proud kwan Power Co., Ltd., 2. Thorsaeng energy Co., Ltd., 3. The Proud Power Co., Ltd., 4. Pansaengdao Co., Ltd., 5. MeKwan Power Co., Ltd., 6. Kiang Kan Energy Co., Ltd., 7. Me Preme Energy Co., Ltd., 8. Proud Fah Power Co., Ltd., 9. Green scene energy Co., Ltd. and 10. Green Care Energy Co., Ltd. [3]
