DEDE Shares EEP 2024 Plan, Aims to Reduce Energy Intensity by 36% by 2037, Jointly Launches ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2024 (ASEW), July 3-5, 2024

On June 5, 2024, the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), in collaboration with Informa Markets Thailand and energy network partners, held a press conference for ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2024 (ASEW 2024), which will be held on July 3-5, 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event is the largest green energy technology exhibition in ASEAN.

Mr. Wattanapong Kurovat, Director-General of DEDE, informed that DEDE has prepared the Alternative Energy Development Plan (AEDP2024) and the Energy Efficiency Plan (EEP 2024) in line with the National Energy Policy. The plans aim to promote the use of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency in line with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The EEP 2024 will adjust the goal of reducing energy intensity from 30% to 36% by 2037. DEDE has been promoting various energy matters, including renewable energy in the electricity sector and biofuels in the transportation sector.

DEDE will work with all energy network partners through ASEW 2024 to exchange knowledge and experience in energy efficiency through important seminar topics such as Implementation of standards and guidelines for the design of new buildings, Promotion of investment and conversion to high-efficiency machinery and equipment and Renewable energy development strategies to benefit entrepreneurs and businesses in the energy industry.

ASEW 2024 is the 34th edition of the event and will feature energy technology from over 1,500 leading global energy brands and international pavilions from leading sustainable energy innovation countries, creating opportunities for Thai and ASEAN entrepreneurs to network with energy leaders from around the world. This year, the event is expected to attract over 33,000 visitors.

In this year, the event will expand to include energy storage systems or Energy Storage Asia to make the event more comprehensive. There will be a seminar on EV battery management by government and industry stakeholders in Thailand, as well as the launch of the "Network of Cooperation for the Development of Standard Swappable Batteries for Small Electric Vehicles".

Another highlight is the in-depth energy seminar featuring world-class energy experts to exchange knowledge at international conferences and seminars such as REA Conference, Asia Urban Energy Assembly, ASEAN Bioenergy and Bioeconomy Conference, Energy Storage Forum, and over 200 other seminars.
