A strategy for Residual Waste Management of 70,000 tons at Songkhla Province

Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province reported that the working group kept on monitoring management of 70,000 tons of residual waste, dumped from more than 20 Local Administrative Organizations in the province, at a Solid Waste Disposal Site (SWDS) in Khlong Hoi Khong District, which has been undertaking by a private company. The company has been managing residual waste e.g., sorting MSW to produce RDF, control foul smell from MSW by spraying Enzyme, treat leachate at 3 wastewater treatment ponds.


The sorting unit has a capacity of 150 tons of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) per day which can produce RDF from about 50 to/d of fresh MSW and 100 t/d of residual waste. The company also accelerates disposal of MSW remaining in the sorting building to prepare for installation of a new sorting unit with capacity of 400 t MSW/d.
