JCM Project development for Realization of Carbon Neutral
in Ubon Ratchathani Province

     The Project on JCM development for Realization of Carbon Neutral in Ubon Ratchathani Province has developed by City of Kitakyushu, Japan and Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Office of Natural Resources & Environment, focusing on the area of Warin Chamrap Town Municipality.

     City of Kitakyushu, as one of the prominent environmental cities in Japan, has started its cooperation with parties in Ubon Ratchathani Province from Joint Clean Up along Mun River at Jaeramair City, Ubon Ratchathani Province since 2019, then expanded its cooperation to waste management other areas in the province, such as Warin Chamrap Town Municipality, Yang Khi Nok Subdistrict Administrative Organization, and Ban Kok Subdistrict Municipality in 2022.

     In 2023, City of Kitakyushu in collaboration with Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Office of Natural Resources & Environment launched the JCM Project Development Study in Ubon Ratchathani to realize Carbon Neutral in Ubon Ratchathani province and Warin Chamrap Town Municipality with a target of Carbon Neutral by 2030. The City of Kitakyushu supports and share experience and knowledge i.e., (1) Introduction of Activities for Carbon Neutral the case of City of Kitakyushu, (2) Technology on Waste & Wastewater Management in the Mekong region, (3) VVP in Japan, 4) Possible Countermeasure against Forest Fire, that will contribute to reduce GHG emissions in Ubon Ratchathani Province.

     Exri Asia as a consultant has involved the project implementation together with relevant parties since 2019, and we will continue to support for achieving the project's goals.
