Villagers call for shutting down On Nut Waste to Energy Power Plant to the DIW

On March 14, 2023, Mr. Julapong Taweesri, Director General of the Department of Industrial Works and Mr.Supakit Boonsiri, Deputy Director General of the Department of Industrial Works, along with officials from the Department of Industry (DIW) received complaints from representatives of more than 10 people affected by the Waste to Energy Power Plant which can handle municipal solid waste up to 800 tons per day, located at On Nut Waste Disposal Center and operated by a private company.


People's representatives informed that since 2020 when the plant started operating, it has caused impacts to the environment and livelihood of the people around the plant continuously, especially the problem of foul smell, loud noise, dust, smoke and wastewater. Therefore, we call DIW to revoke the factory operation license of the project owner and order the plant to be closed permanently.

The Director General of the Department of Industrial Works revealed that the DIW has issued an order to the company to temporarily stop operation of the plant for 60 days to eliminate the problems and will assign officials to inspect the plant solution.
