On September 18, 2023, Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Offices and City of Kitakyushu, Japan, held a meeting for the Cooperation Project on Municipal Solid Waste Management (hereinafter referred to as "MSW") in Ubon Ratchathani Province (2023) at the Environment and Pollution Control Office 12 (Ubon Ratchathani). Mr.Yodsawat Thiansawad, Director of the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment Ubon Ratchathani (hereinafter referred to as "PONRE"), Mr. Ongat Pimsan, Representative of the Environment and Pollution Control Office 12 (Ubon Ratchathani) and members from Ubon Ratchathani Provincial Offices welcomed Japanese Team consist of an officer from City of Kitakyushu, an expert from Kitakyushu International Techno-cooperative Association (KITA) and members of staff from EXRI ASIA.
The project team surveyed MSW management situation in the province and discuss with various agencies in the province such as Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, Bung Wai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Warin Chamrap Town Municipality, Ban Kok Subdistrict Municipality and Yang Khi Nok Subdistrict Administrative Organization during their staying in the province.
This project is under the city-city cooperation between City of Kitakyushu and Ubon Ratchathani Province, which has been continued since 2019 and focus on MSW management at waste generation sources, including composting and management of waste Polyurethane (PU) Foam from used refrigerator and conduct (1) questionnaire survey as for farmers’ awareness on compost, (2) questionnaire survey as MSW management survey at waste generation sources, (3) experiment on pyrolysis for waste PU and (4) Technical Visit to City of Kitakyushu (Japan) for members from the province in 2023.
