Mae Hong Son Province, Ministry of Energy, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and related agencies are under developing Green Tourism City in Mae Hong Son Province through the Smart Grid Development Pilot Project. This project is in line with the 4 SMART Provincial Strategy as follows:
1) SMART SYSTEM: To develop Energy Control & Management System.
2) SMART CITY: To promote “Green Tourism” with Modern Energy Management technology.
3) SMART LEARNING: To promote a learning center as tourist attraction on the energy, arts, and culture field.
4) SMART ENERGY: To operate 3 MW Solar PV Plant & 4 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project.
On May 26th, 2023, EGAT started commercial operation (COD) of the Solar PV with BESS Project, and expect that the project would improve power system in the province. Moreover, they install 200 MW Solar Rooftop for provincial offices in Mae Hong Son province to reduce electricity bill & enhance stability of the power system.
This Project is developed in accordance with the Power Development Plan 1st Revision, 2018-2037 (PDP2018 Revision 1), and is a part of the plan to increase the proportion of clean energy generation according to the national energy policy.
