Khlong Dan Residents, Samut Prakan, Submit a Petition to Parliament Over Waste Dumping Issues

On June 25, 2567, a representative of residents in the Khlong Dan Subdistrict Municipality, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province, traveled to the Parliament to submit a petition regarding their concerns over a waste dumping in the area. Mr. Padipat Suntiphada, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, assigned Mr. Pongsoranat Thonglee, Secretary to the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, to receive the petition.

The representative of residents stated that since the end of 2023, there have been trucks transporting waste and dumping it in the Khlong Dan Subdistrict Municipality in Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province, including on Royal Land at kilometer 52, Moo 7 and on title deed number 25849 in Khlong Dan Subdistrict, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province. This may have an impact on the environment and the mangrove ecosystem and may also cause soil deterioration. They had previously filed complaints with local government agencies, but no action has been taken. The landowner has now covered the waste with soil. Therefore, the representative of residents is requesting the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to visit the area to investigate the matter.

Mr. Pongsoranat stated that the dumping site, although on private land, is near the seashore and a fishing area. Therefore, the government should conserve and maintain the environment and natural resources. He will report this matter to the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives for further consideration.
